Publicis reports new business as next year's growth
What changedPublicis reported Q3 organic net revenue up 5% to about $4.4bn, accelerating from 4.8% in Q2 (Adweek). It said net new business won so far in 2026 will generate about $465m of revenue and add two points to organic growth in 2027. Media is now 62% of revenue, creative 25% and tech 13%. Investing.com read the results as AI widening the gap between Publicis and its peers.
Why it mattersThe interesting part is how Publicis talks about new business: as a forward book that de-risks next year's number. That is the language CFOs and procurement now speak. An agency that reports its pipeline as committed forward revenue, not a list of logos, tells a sharper story to its own board and to prospects.
Why Publicis welcomed a three-horse race
What changedOn its Q3 call, Publicis CEO Arthur Sadoun thanked Omnicom for consolidating the holding-company landscape and described a three-horse race of Publicis, the merged Omnicom-IPG and WPP as good for business (Adweek). Omnicom was due to report its own Q3 on 20 October.
Why it mattersConsolidation at the top removes mid-tier competitors, and it also strands clients and senior people who don't want to live inside a mega-group. Every holding-company merger opens new business for independents that position early around conflicts, team continuity and senior attention.
Will AI savings go to margin or to price?
What changedOmnicom doubled its post-IPG synergy target to $1.5bn over 30 months and signalled about 4,000 further role cuts, folding IPG's data and AI into its Omni platform (Storyboard18). Its CTO says teams now generate 20 to 50 concepts with AI, where they used to make two or three, and test them synthetically before spending on media. CEO John Wren on pricing: clients "will pay for results… if our ideas generate lots of money, we'll be expecting to get paid for that" (AdExchanger).
Why it mattersThis is the loudest test yet of whether AI efficiency becomes margin or gets competed away on price. When the largest group says it expects to be paid for results, outcome and value pricing stops looking like a boutique experiment. And when input costs collapse that far, hourly pricing becomes very hard to defend.
Adobe and NVIDIA push AI production further
What changedAdobe and NVIDIA expanded their partnership on 15 October (Adobe). Adobe claims up to 2x speed on selected AI and editing work across Photoshop, Premiere and Substance 3D, and a rebuilt Frame.io pipeline with much faster search and versioning (MarTech Edge). These are vendor-reported figures.
Why it mattersThe layer that is becoming a commodity keeps moving up. When ingest, search, versioning and first-draft editing get this much faster, the billable hours left in production shrink again, and clients know it. Agencies selling brand systems, orchestration and judgement at the brief and sign-off stages are better placed than those pricing production by time.
Whether an agency should reprice, reposition or go after holdco clients first depends on its model and its mix. Working that out is the conversation I have with agency owners, and it is what the call is for.
